ok, on to stage 2 which is the start of our aa-specific application.

It wont interfere with the existing method, so if it doesnt work for you, just uninstall it.

download the installer here:

setup.exe

Obviously scan it with AV first if you are paranoid!

Once installed, launch the game using the links in the start menu.

Please report if it works for you. I DONT anticipate this working for commando et al who are experiencing the red blob of doom on phase 1, although I could always be pleasantly surprised!

Have fun, and let us know as much feedback as possible.

Changelog:

0.2 -Alpha 2:
Recoded and added installer to start menu
Added airattack specific pre-entered options
Removed un-needed functionality.

Bug reports to be submitted to this thread only please.

Hiya,

Opened the "Activate uPnP settings and open browser" shortcut, but I get this message: "Could not add port mapping :-( (Action Failed)"

Note I've not done anything in the first solution on that other thread.

Let me know if there's any info I can supply.

Hi Gelp, thanks for trying.

Please try this version. It is exactly the same but has some more informative output. I think it would also help, if provide us with some more information about your network.

Is uPnP activated on your router?

Which other devices which may also be uPnP capable are in your network?

Which IP address has your router?

Which IP address has your PC?

How many network devices has your PC?

:)

PS: Since I'm to stupid to attach a file here, I will e-mail it to you.

Hi TopSchrott m8. Since I'm stupid... I haven't much of a clue as to what half the above means or where I find it. :)
However, I've had a nosey through my router settings, and I might have answered your questions :)

Done m8, emailed you the resulting message, but here it is again if it helps:
"Could not add port mapping :-( (Action Failed). Your IP is 0.0.0.0. uPMP URL is http://192.168.1.254:80/upnp/control/ig ... pcInternet"

Is uPnP activated on your router?
I can't find any mention of it in router settings, any idea where I would find this?

Which other devices which may also be uPnP capable are in your network?
I don't know, if this is Universal Plug and Play, then are we talking mice, keyboard, joystick, etc? :) Networking devices I have PC, router (BTHomeHub of course) and modem.

Which IP address has your router?
Some detail from Internet section of router settings:
IP Address: 81.156.68.204
Primary DNS: 62.6.40.178
Secondary DNS: 194.72.0.98

Which IP address has your PC?
Answered by above? I honestly don't know what IP addy would be PC and which my router, as nothing kindly states it that clearly does it hehe.
Maybe answered in detected devices below?
There's more info on another Router settings page:

Interface - LocalNetwork

Interface Information
Interface Group: lan

TCP/IP Configuration
Use DHCP Server: *tick*

IP Addresses
IP Address/Mask Type
10.0.0.138/24 Static

LAN_private 192.168.1.64 - 192.168.1.237 192.168.1.254

How many network devices has your PC?
Just my PC (I have PC, a router and ADSL line, nothing more, unless you count my speedtouch modem that is connected to PC via USB but not to phone line, as the router is curently on it)
HOWEVER, in the router it shows 5 "Detected Devices":

Hi,

thanks for trying Gelp. Especially the output of the program did help a lot. Somehow it thinks that your (local) IP is 0.0.0.0 which is of course wrong. Therefore your BT Home Hub is not allowing the port forwarding.

But this is good news. I will try to fix this somehow :)

Interesting m8. Whenever I've done port forwarding in the router settings I've had it fail to work. Although sometimes it has. It's odd!

Oooh I've been thick. I do have another device connected to my BTHomeHub, and that's my BTVision Box and is connected by ethernet through my power sockets.
BUT I still get the same error message when I disconnect the BT Vision Box and run the file :)

@zee1: When do you exactly get that checkscript error? Did you install the software from the link Animals posted (setup.exe)? Which operating system do you use?

@Gelp: Sorry m8, unfortunately my time is running out for today. Apologies, I will try to get a next version for tomorrow. But don't be worried, my application did find your BT Homehub. The only problem is that it failed to find out your IP address (do you use any antivirus software on your system? Or maybe a special firewall?). Anyway, nothing we can't solve :)

Cheers,

:) No rush TopSchrott m8.
I have AVG 8 antivirus, and the only firewall I have is Windows XP SP2 Firewall.

Well I'm very impressed, Topschrott sent me another file today and it works perfectly. I can now play AA on my BTHomeHub, no more limited bandwidth modem, and saves me a fair bit of connection swapping.

Nice one Toppy you clever chappie :)

Why am I not getting problems connecting with AA when using my BTHome Hub which is then hard wired into a netgear wifi router which serves my hard wired xbox 360.
Is the netgear forwarding the port back to the home hub in some way?
Have not installed the port forwarding software yet but I can get into AA every time anyway.

Is the BTHomeHub then used as Modem? How is your BT Homehub connected? Is AA also working when not using the Netgear?

I have to say, some stuff in the BT Homehub is totally broken, especially concerning UDP, NAT und port forwarding. So it is of course hard to tell why it sometimes work... or not at all.

Hi Top the bthomehub has the adsl in from phone line the netgear is cat 5 connected to the homehub I havent tried turning the netgear off to see if home hub will work on its own will give it a try tommorow pm if thats ok.
I do however use the homehub to connect im guessing the netgear is forwarding the port required for AA back to the home hub which is how im getting in connecting to the home hubs wireless network.
Ohh Hi Myst & Hi Nemo respect to ya both.

Martin
ps All I need is to stop my lagg :)

Hi all,

here is the next version of the AirAttack uPnP Configuration tool. It will use an alternative way of guessing your IP address if the first method failed.

As a reminder, you might need that tool in order to play AirAttack if you have a Thomson based router (e.g. BT Homehub or O2 Wirelessbox).

Give it a try: setup.exe

And please let Animal and me know about failures or success.

I would rather like to know what the IP addresses are :) Or basically just if they are right.

I have a TG585v7 and no problems. If the IPs are both correct, I can only imagine that uPNP is somehow not activate. So I better ask it. Is uPNP activated in your router? Are there any manual port forwarding? What is the exact name of your router (is it also TG585?)

Best regards,

TopSchrott
